MILLVILLE - The municipal Planning Board on Monday night unanimously approved a request from Surfside Seafood Products to install a pair of solar power generating arrays at its facility at 724 Orange Street.
The stationary, ground-mounted arrays will be able to generate up to 373.86 kilowatts, all intended for on-site use. The application was non-controversial, since the site already is developed.
One array is a “carport” design, with the panels elevated from 13.5 feet at their low end to 19.5 feet at their high end. Thirty-six cars could fit under that array, project engineer Robert Mulford said.
National Energy Partners, based in Clementon, is building the arrays for purchase by Surfside.
Surfside acquired the roughly 6.8-acre property in December 2014.
